Standing on a hill over Salisbury Plain on the remote archipelago of South Georgia in Antarctica, I can see over 100,000 King penguins. The colony is a cacophony of hoots and calls from adult penguins that are returning from spending days at sea feeding and are now returning to this crowd to find their chick.
