#OnThisDay in 2014, Vujadin Boškov died at the age of 82. The midfielder played with FK Vojvodina for most of his career and was a member of the Yugoslavia national team that won the silver medal at the 1952 Olympic football tournament. Boškov also played at the 1954 and 1958 FIFA World Cups. He first turned his hand to coaching at Swiss club Young Fellows Juventus. His most successful period came in Italy, where he guided Sampdoria to the Scudetto title, the side also lifting the European Cup Winners' Cup, two Coppa Italia trophies and the Italian Super Cup, as well as reaching the European Champion Clubs' Cup final. Boškov had previously found success in the Netherlands and Spain, winning the Dutch Cup with ADO Den Haag and a league and cup double with Real Madrid. Appointed Yugoslavia coach in 1999, he led the team to the UEFA EURO 2000 quarter-finals.
