A simple mantra to live by.? It is always a goal of mine to engage in conversations that exude both positivity and hope. I am an optimist by choice.
My optimism does not denote incoherency. It is not naïve. If anything, enlightens me.
I promise you that I have been through enough to understand the ugly that lives in this world. I’ve been through enough to understand the imperfections that live among us, and the tragedies that bring forth despair.
I know pain, I know loss, and I know hurt.
But my heart does not beat for this pain. I cannot contribute to what I don’t believe in.
Optimism serves as my act of defiance.
While darkness may distort my perceptions at times, I have found it essential in my life to live against the tragedies I’ve encountered. I contradict them with smiles. I challenge them with courage, and I defy them through kindness.
Practice this; when you leave a conversation, make others happier than you found them. Be a positive force in the life of others, for positivity not only compels a contagious effect, it nourishes incentives that inspire others, too. Kindness is not weary, it is wise. It builds upon giving, and it braces a promising, better world.
