In the summer of 1922, #MoholyNagy and his first wife, the photographer Lucia Schulz, began experimenting with cameraless photography. They superimposed objects of varying shapes, textures, and transparencies onto the surface of light-sensitive paper and played with light exposures to see what effects could be achieved. Moholy considered light to be a new plastic medium that could be manipulated, like color in painting and tone in music.
