Arctic fox, Alopex lagopus, in a wild flower meadow in the Icelandic West Fjords. The coast is a relatively reliable source of food – mostly carrion and invertebrates – throughout the year. Foxes of this ‘blue’ morph, that are brown all year round, dominate in coastal regions, where their dark fur provides the best camouflage.
