In 1920, Tristan Tzara, a poet and a co-founder of Dada, invited some 50 artists from 10 countries to submit artworks in four categories: photographic self-portraits, photographs of artworks, original drawings, and layouts for book pages. Tzara touted the project with declarations like the one above, but the work was never published due to financial and organizational difficulties.
