Photo by Michael George @migeophoto // Outside the Stonewall Inn in New York City, a memorial has been created by locals in response to the largest mass shooting in United States history. In this image, a man prepares to to lay a rainbow ribbon as another mourns the victims. The 49 mostly latino gay men were senselessly slaughtered by a homophobic male whose father reported he was 'very angry' by the sight of two men kissing. The victims included Luis Vielma, a 22-year-old who worked at a local theme park, Enrique L. Rios Jr. a 25-year-old Brooklyn native, and Luis Daniel Wilson-Leon, 37. The Stonewall Inn is the iconic location that is often referred to as the birthplace of the gay liberation movement and the modern fight for LGBT rights in the United States. One year ago it was the sight where thousands gathered to celebrate marriage equality. Sundays events are a tragic reminder that the US has a long way to go on the road to eliminating homophobia and transphobia. // #WeAreOrlando #StonewallInn #Stonewall #LoveIsLove #GunControlNow #GunControl
