They say the measure of intelligence is the ability to change, yet change is all I have ever known. I can still remember how it feels to hear bad news, that moment the world is thrown upside down and your heart torn in two and you wish you'd never heard the news or seen what happened and your life could have carried on being so normal. I remember the air escaping my lungs so I couldn't speak, my heart beating so fast and hard that I thought it would explode in my chest and my hands trembling to the point that I could hardly hold a pen. I remember been petrified of what tomorrow would bring, I remember praying that I would wake up in the morning and it would all have been nothing more than a nightmare. But it wasn't, and it isn't and life doesn't work like that; hard times happen, bad, sad and mad things you can't explain, accept or even understand. So instead of breaking down I learnt to be flexible, to take the blows and hold onto those burdens and in the end it made me stronger, more capable and unbreakable.
