Older trees, like these here, are hardy enough to withstand the conditions. With heat index on the rise and compounded years of drought new sprouts are struggling. In fact, in 30% of the park new j tree sprouts haven't been seen in decades to do the rise in temps. Scientist are say that by the year 2100 that the park could potentially see a loss in 90% of Joshua tree habitat prompting the question: what would Joshua Tree National Park be called if there were no J Trees left? #climatechange
