Bringing the mind to a level which it is able to recognize the body and it's function is one of the greatest tools for a person. Bodybuilder, power lifter, athlete or not, awareness allows your body to develop exponentially and dictate your body's control on stage, on the court or on the field.

Standing movements allow your body to use your core stabilization system by resisting the use of momentum. Although this could help develop the strength of your core it may not be what YOUR body needs. Know thy self. Know what your body needs and how to improve. The smallest flaw will show in performance when competing against others striving to be great as you are. Improving every nuance and filling every hole in your body of work is imperative.

So why sit rather than stand? If your body of work lacks this spatial awareness and mind muscle connection, simplify the move. Centralize the effort to the areas of need. Take the core stabilizers out of the mind and the mind can focus more on the lateral deltoid. We all know how a full shoulder cap will help on stage; make sure you don't waste your time. Similar to turning of the tv when come home, limit distractions. Feel the contraction and free the mind to focus on nothing but the task at hand.
