“When our kiwi pair at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute were producing infertile eggs, keepers Wesley Bailey and Kathy Brader teamed up to figure out why. Wesley thought to examine the inner membrane of the infertile eggs. When they found no sperm in the eggs, Wesley altered the overweight male’s diet. Now, our kiwi is a dad to not one but TWO chicks!
