Squats are not only amazing for muscle development but imperative for the development of bone density as it is a weight barring movement. In terms of foot placement, it honestly depends on your preference and what you are training for. Wide stance is normally for power or strength. It cuts down on the distance needed to travel. But more narrow stances engage more of the quad and help the leg develop more fully. Wide stance tends to under develop the inner thigh. So if you are training for aesthetics do both as wide grip also emphasizes different areas like the glute! As for going all the way down to the ground, this is a touchy topic. Your body is made to squat all the way down to the floor. BUT, and I do mean BUT, if you have any muscle imbalances, knee or hip injuries or ankle mobility issues, *do not do it. You will be better suited doing box squats and dead lifts or other recommendations for someone who knows you best. If you have none of the mentioned issues, then SQUAT. If you can dream it, we can achieve it. Your thoughts depict your reality and you become what you put your energy into. Those that are prepared, walk through all their disciplines, keeping a checklist will be rewarded.
