Today, Zoo nutritionist Erin Kendrick demonstrated the formula recipe: 13 percent human baby formula and 87 percent distilled water, gently whisked and strained 3 times. How do they know how much formula the baby needs? Baby orangutans feed multiple times throughout day and drink between 20 and 25 percent of their weight in milk. Monitoring his/her weight daily will help the team determine the appropriate amount of formula to give the growing baby.
