The vast majority of tourists who visit Iceland will also visit the Blue Lagoon, so here's a few tips to help make it a more personal experience 1: It’s located 20 minutes from the international airport & 40 minutes from Reykjavik so it makes sense to come here either on your way to or from the airport. I’d suggest the latter; less than an hour after landing you can be drinking a cold one and floating in milky, blue waters dense with minerals. That’s how to arrive in a country! 2: Just as you approach the doors of the Blue Lagoon, there’s a footpath which turns left. If you have time, follow it. It will take you around the lava fields and, since most people go straight to the Lagoon, you’ll probably have the scenery all to yourself. 3: Explore. As well as the main pools the Lagoon has caves with music, bridges to swim under and hidden corners with hot spots. 4: Don’t be shy with the mud masks, slather that stuff on (it’s also the perfect opportunity to draw crude images on your friend’s face with mud). 5: Book online in advance to avoid the queues.
