Photo by @andywcoleman // Today is a day to celebrate the Orangutan and raise awareness about their dwindling numbers. Once you get up close with one (or two) of these magnificent creatures, you see how intelligent, loving and peaceful they are. You can see yourself in their eyes and their hands and the way they communicate with each other. Orangutans are threatened by the loss of their habitat in Sumatra and Borneo, primarily due to the growth of palm plantations. This mother and child were moving through the jungle early in the morning, but stopped to examine us while we were watching them. It is also World Photo Day, and I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate than to show the power that photography has to inspire us to preserve the planet. #OrangutanDay #WorldOrangutanDay #WorldPhotoDay
