Delighted to present the Berita Harian Achiever of the Year awards to silat world champion Sheik Farhan Sheik Alau’ddin (in suit and tie) and Senior Assistant Commissioner Zuraidah Abdullah (in mess kit) last night.
Both are trailblazers. Sheik Farhan comes from a family of silat exponents and was just 17 when he became a world champion last year. He has gone on to win more gold medals for Singapore and was awarded the Spex Scholarship this year.
Zuraidah was the first Malay to join the @singaporepoliceforce through its direct entry programme three decades ago. She worked her way up to become the first female Senior Assistant Commissioner. She now oversees all Home Team operations at Singapore’s five air checkpoints. She also contributes actively to the community, having previously headed Mendaki, and now the Malay Heritage Foundation.
