How do you conserve art made from textiles? For #NewYorkTextileMonth, the Guggenheim’s Objects Conservator, Esther Chao, reveals the fascinating process of conserving works made from textiles. "As an objects conservator, I have to deal with mixed-media works constantly, and often artworks have textile materials incorporated in them. I used to work with ethnographic and archaeological materials, which had a lot more fiber and textile components. The amount of intricacy, skill, complexity, talent, and creativity that people had to produce items for both decoration and utility always amazes me."
