Happy birthday to #MaurizioCattelan, court jester of the art world! Last week we unveiled Maurizio Cattelan: "America," a fully functional 18-karat gold toilet available for use in one of the museum's public restrooms. The toilet offers a wink to the excesses of the art market but also evokes the American dream of opportunity for all. Cattelan has joked before that this is “one-percent art for the ninety-nine percent,” though he prefers to allow the audience to interpret the work.
