This is another on of my favorite spreads from my new book, #Evolution A Visual Record.

The beauty and the ingenuity of nature is something to behold.

One the left we have the lowly #donkey ( that is the common name for the species Equinis asinus it is part of Equidae family which also includes horses and mules. Very little is known about the species reproductive process. The species that has relatively little information available regarding its reproductive physiology.

A donkey is pregnant 10 months and 14 months (but 10 a month foal is not premature), it is often hard to tell if a donkey is pregnant or not.

One the right is the #nakedmole-rat (Heterocephalus glaber) a fascinating subterranean rodent that offers great promise as a biomedical model of resistance to disease, and diseases of aging in particular.

This individual is a 26 years old breeding queen. It is the longest-lived rodent and is exceptionally resistant to neoplasia, making it a unique model for research on aging and cancer as well as other traits such as metabolic regulation, development, pain and behavior.
One of the most interesting things about the mole rat is that #Darwin predicted that a mammal that exhibited hive like behavior should exist. #EvolutionaVisualRecord
