"I sort of think Trump would be a better president. He wants more jobs for America. But then there’s stuff like making Mexico pay for the wall, and calling women pigs and stuff. Not as many people are going to vote for Trump." — Nate Schloneger, a 7th-grade student at DeLong Middle School in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. ? Nate’s teacher, Brent Wathke, is having a tough time teaching this presidential campaign. “It is a total mess,” the 33-year-old told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. “Honestly, I just can’t wait until it’s over.” Brent is one of countless teachers across the U.S. who are anguishing over the dark and sometimes shocking tone of the presidential campaign. To avoid free-form debate, which Brent feels is risky, he separates his students into small groups, or “Socratic circles,” to discuss the campaign. Some of the questions they had to answer: What are the most important issues facing the U.S.? And which candidate would make a better president? Watch our #InstagramStory to find out what the 7th-grade students said, and to see more portraits by @ackermangruber.
