Originally deemed too frightening for children, the animated short "The Tell-Tale Heart" (UPA, 1953) was one of the first cartoons to receive an X rating. Though tame by today’s standards, the animation is still haunting. As part of LACMA’s current exhibition, “Guillermo Del Toro: At Home with Monsters,” Paul Julian's surreal concept and cell art for “The Tell-Tale Heart” is on display until November 27th. (Fun fact: Paul Julian was the voice actor behind Warner Brothers iconic Road Runner cartoon. He is the one saying “Beep-Beep”)
