This is Hull Glacier in Antarctica and it’s one of the most difficult places to get to on Earth. NASA’s Operation #IceBridge is currently flying over this area and tracking changes in the ice. Flying with the mission’s DC-8 is artist @ZariaLynn, a landscape artist whose work seeks to document climate change. She’s collecting material for a future series inspired by these images that will showcase the vast scale of change scientists are seeing in the ice. For example, in this image these visible cracks are often thousands of feet deep and are created by movement in the glacier under its own weight.
