A pregnant dancer, a confused Italian Greyhound and a wall of flowers ?? ? ? ? ☺️ I want to send a HUGE thank you to @lovephilosophy for the love yesterday! Everyone got to take little goodies home and I just adore this flower wall (although I'm pretty sure @ringo_thegringo thought they were real flowers because he kept trying to pee on them...)? Not many people know this but I am on the Steering committee of their hope and grace foundation, dedicated to women's mental health. Yesterday was a true testament to how important this issue is! So many women stood up after class and spoke about their struggles with depression, with anxiety, with coping with loss... When we feel surrounded by darkness it can be hard to find even the tiniest glimmer of light and we forget that others feel this way, too. Fact of the matter is that life happens. Pain happens. Why are we so quick to sweep our problems under the rug and say that we're fine, even during times when we're not? I so encourage all of you out there (women and men!) to speak up about your struggles! It's by opening up that we realize we are not alone. Pain grows in the dark. I know for me personally sharing my journey, good and bad, is a huge part of how I heal and move through difficulties. And I see more and more just how much support there is to be found the moment I open up about things that usually are difficult to talk about. There are people (and foundations!) out there with the tools to help us step back into the light, but we have to allow ourselves to be vulnerable.
