In 2008 I spent 17 days with him on the shark's fin face of Mt Meru in the Indian Himalaya. I couldn't believe he kept going despite running out of food and getting caught in a 100-year storm. Sure, part of his success is just experience and calculated decision making. But Conrad's secret sauce is also his youthful enthusiasm for the adventure of climbing.
