The country experienced a massive earthquake last year, which, as other natural disasters, is likely to increase the rate of child marriage. Nepal has one of the highest rates of child marriage in the world — 41 percent of girls and 11 percent of boys marry before age 18. Globally, a girl is married every two seconds.

I founded the nonprofit @tooyoungtowed after working with @ナショナルジオグラフィック on an extensive multi-country story on #childmarriage, which was published in 2011. Through the organization, we continue to protect girls’ rights and #endchildmarriage using the power of visual storytelling. We also strive to have a positive impact in the areas where our images are made. Today, @tooyoungtowed supports 25 students from the Kagati village with multi-year scholarships. We've also successfully bridged continued earthquake recovery and educational support to the area.
