It is really easy to bring negativity on to yourself when things don’t go as planned or just aren’t as easy as you hoped they would be ; “you can plan a pretty picnic but you can’t predict the weather” (shoutout to @outkast for that one). Taking the harder route of positive reinforcement to myself has been a much better tactic in my experience; something that has been a continuous project to change my mindset over the time i have been in this sport of Weightlifting. When things don’t go my way I am finding a way of noting “these are the things I am doing well” and “the work I am doing now will make this easier later” etc etc. instead of things like “i can’t do it” “i can’t believe i didn’t make it” “i’m weak” “i’m too this” “i’m too that” … I don’t put any limits on myself - and I am a firm believer in the saying that *thoughts become things* - how we speak to ourselves has a big impact on what we can accomplish.
