One never gets used to war. Never. If one ever feels this happening, it is time to get away the front and its conflict, suffering and horrors. If you do not leave, and can no longer feel the fears reflected in the eyes of your fellow humans who both make and suffer from war, then you risk the breaking of your soul and the hardening of your heart. One becomes a mere being of flesh, empty of emotion and exposed to danger. I, for one, never got used to this violence.
The hillsides of Kabul lie covered with the cartridges of heavy artillery, desolate memories of the wars which have wreaked havoc on a daily basis in Afghanistan for so many decades.
