Last week our cub scout den visited a local shelter and donated Jazzy's kongs. I saw a "Border" cat in the window pawing at us.
I work from home and when everyone leaves, the house is painfully silent. Cooper doesn't get up or follow me around anymore. I thought my mind was going insane from the empty feeling. A couple of days ago, I went back to the shelter to see the cat again, just to see. I didn't want to go into the dog kennels, not yet. The Border cat was adopted but the shelter volunteer said there was another black and white cat that was shelter shocked and needs to be out. She had been at the shelter the longest. Prissy was scared and didn't want to be held or petted. There were other cats that were friendlier and more playful but she could use a break from the 2 x 3 more than others. So we are fostering her for a while. As I put her carrier in my Jeep, I asked myself what the heck I was doing. But something pushed me to go with the gut feeling. We don't intend to keep her. My heart is not ready for another family member. But I feel like I'm helping her, and she's helping me. Cooper seems to be more engaging in the last two days too. #InMemoryOfJazzy
