“Who is your family?” That’s the question the photographer @brianadamsphotography was often asked in rural Alaska, where he spent about a year finding his answer while working on a photo project called @iaminuit. @brianadamsphotography, who lives in Anchorage, is part #Inupiat. The Inuit Circumpolar Council commissioned the project as a social media campaign. “We wanted to break through stereotypes of what people typically see of Alaskan Inuits,” @brianadamsphotography told the @ニューヨーク・タイムズ #lensblog. He traveled to 20 villages, uploading his photos of Inupiat and Yupiit residents in real time (or in the time that photos shot on film can be developed). He took this portrait of Marie Rexford standing proudly over that day’s #muktuk, a traditional Inuit meal of frozen whale skin and blubber.
