Brent Sass and his team of #sleddogs made their way across the Yukon River shortly after arriving in Dawson City, in Canada’s Yukon territory. Dawson is a mandatory 36-hour rest stop about midway through the #Yukon Quest, a dogsled race that spans 1,000 miles and ends in Fairbanks, Alaska. This year, Brent, a former @officialyukonquest champion, and his dogs were the first to arrive. “The race would not be the same without Dawson, and I think Dawson wouldn’t be the same without the Quest,” Brent told the photographer @ashadamsphoto. When they met at The Billy Goat’s Pub, where he eats every year, Brent had an early morning ahead of him. He was preparing to race 150 miles before the next checkpoint — and all told, 526 miles to the finish. “I feel great right now,” he said. “I just want to get back out on the trail.” This #nytweekender, we’re sharing @ashadamsphoto’s pictures of #sleddogs and #snowscapes from Dawson City.
