In Dawson City, a town home to about 1,300 people in Canada’s remote Yukon territory, winters are far from comfortable. When @ashadamsphoto photographed Ryne Olson, seen here, Ryne and her #sleddogs had just arrived in Dawson, a rest stop on a 1,000-mile dogsled race called the #Yukon Quest. All @officialyukonquest mushers are required to spend 36 hours in this remote town. When they come into view, small groups of tourists, locals and journalists rush to greet them. The mushers arrive with chapped skin and hair glittering with frost and head across the Yukon River to a campground, where they set up camp during their layover. After Dawson, the mushers have about 526 miles to go before they reach the finish line in Fairbanks, Alaska. This #nytweekender, we’re sharing @ashadamsphoto’s pictures from #DawsonCity.
