Photograph by @paulnicklen taken while on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック // Leopard seals time their arrival at penguin colonies to coincide with chicks going to sea for the first time. The chicks are inexperienced and are at a very vulnerable stage in their journey of life. Fortunately, these few were able to seek momentary reprieve on the nearest iceberg. But, leopard seals are effective and patient hunters and this seal eventually got a couple of penguins.
