Lithography has opened up printmaking to many artists not trained in the skills needed to create woodcuts or etchings.
The technique has been embraced by many of the major artists of the Post-War period, including Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, David Hockney and Jasper Johns.
David Hockney (b. 1937), Lithographic Water Made of Lines, Crayon, and Two Blue Washes. Estimate $30,000-50,000.
Prints – 19 - 20 April at Christie's New York, Rockefeller Center.
