Flint, Michigan, is being promised clean water. But residents have seen no relief from more entrenched, though less publicized, problems. On Zimmerman Street, a block of crumbling bungalows on the city’s west side, worries run deeper than tainted water. For Steven Diehl — who @brittanygreeson photographed at home 2 of his kids — the biggest worry is gun violence. “People with the littlest problems shoot at each other instead of talking it out,” he said. Another concern for Flint residents: the vacant homes and crumbling buildings all over town. At night, Todd Davis and Tamatha Watson, who are pictured in the second photo here, have heard people enter abandoned homes. When they called 911 recently, the police never came. For Anthony Johnson, who @brittanygreeson photographed grilling dinner, the biggest worry is finding work. “I feel like Flint is falling,” he said. “It just keeps on falling.” And for Darla Wright, who's pictured with her son Kenjrell, worries over Flint’s water have never gone away. “I’m so scared,” she said. “There’s nothing we can do about it.” Follow @brittanygreeson to see more photos from #Flint.
