Photo by @migeophoto // The 'Old Man of Storr' is a large and startling rock formation on the Trotternish Peninsula in the Isle of Skye. From a distance, the Old Mann looks as if it is leaning outward and could fall at any moment. The 'Storr' proper is a large rock cliff face to the right of this image. Hikers wander all around this area, but are advised not to go near the base of the rocks. Made of Gyrolite and other materials, the 160 foot tall spire has a few legends associated with it. My favorite is that the formation was the thumb of a giant who died and was buried in the Earth.
