On my last day in Font back at the end of March, I had two boulders I really wanted to finish that I'd tried during the trip. I woke up, went outside, and in horror, felt the sun beating down, full force; it felt like summer ?It was the hottest weather I'd ever seen in the forest, the car read 27C, and there was no breeze ?I was shocked, retreated to shade, and the question arose; are we just done here? Terminal heat failure? I had described the problems to people as "friction dependent" which I regret ever saying, it seemed totally sketch. My skin was haggard and I was already wrecked, yet I had invested enough time into this idea that walking away was not an option ? I had to go out there and fail, to be fair, so I could drive to Switzerland with zero regrets. Last day best days can happen ?they are real, they rule, and you never get to have one unless you get out there and give'er hell, accepting you will most likely fail. With a particular @alexandermegos quote on my mind ???I decided that in 2017 the game has changed, there are no more excuses (other than being too weak), loaded myself with pads, and trekked out to meet my german homies @luis_gerhardt_ ,@juldtd , @einfachwurm and @jonas_winter Sun blocking techniques were employed to lower the rocks temperature, hands waved in the air like barnacles feeding ??, desperate for wind we watched the trees, observing their movement, hoping for guidance of where to stand next, to find our breeze. New beta needed to be created, more chalk was probably used, but astonishingly enough I grappled my way to the summit of L'appparement Bas [8b] and afterwards clamped my way up Furtif Rallongé [8b], seen here in the video. I notoriously complain about conditions, blame my sweaty hands, and tell myself its better to wait, save my energy, and siege when its prime. This is not always good beta, and can stave off potential sends. Its hard for me to learn this lesson, but if you get out there and try really hard, good things can actually happen ????. Keep the hope alive my friends?@island_io @fiveten_official @trangoworld_conceptstore @walltopia @petzl_official @friction-labs
