This is just one of a vast number of plant species unique to this ecoregion, considered one of North America's most botanically rich. This level of biodiversity was behind the creation of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument in 2000, and expansion in 2017. Now, just months later, this monument is under review by the Trump Administration to assess whether they should remain in their current form and size. All this week, I am posting images from some of the monuments on that review list, to help inform the discussion and to encourage readers to weigh in on the process.
