Caren and Tom Teves's son, Alex, was killed in the Aurora shooting. "When the shooting started, and people realized what was happening, everyone hit the floor," writes Tom. "Amanda froze, and Alex jumped back up. As he dragged her down, a bullet hit him in his forehead. It took off the back of his head. The bullets were meant to pierce armor. The Thing [the shooter] knew everyone would hide behind the seats and testified in court that the goal was to kill as many people as possible." Caren adds, "The shooter went online and with the click of a mouse was easily able to purchase almost six thousand rounds of ammunition without even having to show as much as a driver’s license." On National Gun Violence Awareness Day, we're sharing their story, along with eight others, in the link in our bio. Illustration by @steveespopowers.
