Small thought for the day: “You need to let the little things that would ordinarily bore you suddenly thrill you”, Andy Warhol.
From a post-war #Italian master to one of the founders of American #PopArt, Piero Manzoni and Ed Ruscha were both fascinated with the meaning of things that others may ordinarily overlook. For #Manzoni, his sculptural Achrome from 1959 is a powerful work that, although #minimalist, sparks inevitable associations in the viewer, be it the ‘crumbling soil ridges of a ploughed field, the expressive beauty of thick drapery in Renaissance marble sculpture or even the rumpled sheets of a post-coital bed’. Juxtaposed with Ruscha’s vibrant Blue Scream of 1964, a work that encapsulate’s his fascination with language and words as aesthetic forms. Come and see them side by side in our #London galleries until 3pm tomorrow, ahead of our Actual Size #auction. #SothebysActualSize #PieroManzoni #EdRuscha
