A blue-spotted tree monitor photographed at @gladysporterzoo (swipe for more). Blue-spotted tree monitors are shy lizards, fleeing up trees and hiding behind tree trunks when faced with danger-- much like a squirrel does. Their tails are almost two times the length of their bodies and are used to wrap around and grasp onto branches. This species can be found on the island of Batanta in Indonesia.
