Today The Queen visited The Royal Society of Edinburgh where she presented two Royal Medals. Instituted by Her Majesty in 2000, Royal Medals are awarded every year for distinction and international repute in a range of different disciplines including Life Sciences, Engineering, Business and the Arts.

The Royal Medalists receiving their Royal Medals today were Professor Peter Boyle for his outstanding contribution to global cancer control and Professor Tessa Holyoake her contribution to the field of Life Sciences.
