The seven main Kutsuna Islands seem to huddle together off the coast of Matsuyama City in Ehime Prefecture.
The largest, Nakajima, is known as an island of tangerines and triathlons. On its west coast, a rocky crag called Shiro, or “castle,” is connected to the island proper only at low tide, a phenomenon known as a tombolo.
