4 years ago, while filming @crimsonpeak, the director Guillermo del Toro called the actor Doug Jones into his office. @actordougjones already had 2 small roles in the gothic romance, but Guillermo had another part in mind for him — a bigger one, in @shapeofwatermovie, the unlikeliest of monster movies. @actordougjones has had crucial roles in many of the director’s projects, but this is the first time he’s been the star — and a romantic hero at that. Here on Instagram, Doug describes himself in this way: “That tall, skinny fella from movies & TV.” Highlights of the list: a mutated insect; a worm-spewing vampire; a spectral creature with blood-red eyeballs in the palms of his hands; an erudite fish-man; an angel of death; and a whimsical hybrid of human, tree and goat. “The reputation I got was that I was tall and skinny and moved well and wore a lot of crap on my face and didn’t complain about it,” @actordougjones said. @latergraham took this photo of #DougJones, costume-free.
