Red Panda. Despite its name, it’s not closely related to the panda. They do eat a lot of bamboo though! It makes up around 90% of their diet. Another similar trait with the panda – it has an enlarged wrist bone that acts kind of like a thumb which makes grasping bamboo easier. Red pandas are arboreal, meaning most of their time is spent in trees. Unfortunately, red pandas are listed as endangered by the IUCN. It’s estimated that they’ve lost 50% of their population in just the past two decades due to habitat loss and poaching among other reasons. .
