@barbicancentre New Year boost being in this giant creative space. #Basquiat born (1960) and passed (1988) so recently. Incredible time of questioning and productivity in the ‘New York New Wave’. Today I particularly liked his work ‘Hollywood Africans’ - which was a reference to (quote) “the inescapable racism in the film industry”. That was in 1983, and it makes me muse on how much or little has changed in 35 years. Seems apt with the #GoldenGlobes in Hollywood today. Power on friends x Thandie
