ナショナルジオグラフィックのインスタグラム(natgeo) - 3月2日 08時21分

Photograph by @limauricio (Mauricio Lima) | Bernardo, an indigenous villager of Puñaca Tinta María community in Bolivia's altiplano, used to fish here. Once spanning more than 3,000 square kilometers, Lake Poopó is now completely dry. Hundreds of fisherman used to rely on the lake, wondering if it will one day return. I drove 23km from the edge of the lake to get to where I was standing when I made this photograph. This is my first feature for National Geographic, looking at how climate, overuse and drought are affecting the world’s largest lakes. For the full story, please, look for the March issue of @ナショナルジオグラフィック. From now on, I will continue sharing more photographs of Lake Poopó's surrounding communities affected by its lack of water.
