‘Homme à la pipe assis et amour’ by Pablo Picasso is a defiant tribute to the heroic figure of the musketeer, one of a cast of characters the artist deployed as a means of projecting different aspects of his own identity. The painting is part of a group of four powerful works by Picasso spanning 50 years of his extraordinary career, all coming direct from the collection of the artist’s grand-daughter, Marina Picasso, which feature in ‘Panorama: A New Perspective’, a major selling #exhibition of masterworks by the titans of Impressionist, Modern and Contemporary Art.
