On April 2nd, Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park was officially designated an International Dark Sky Park!
International Dark Sky Park is a category of recognition by the International Dark-Sky Association for land that possesses specifically protected dark sky, and this is the first location in Japan to receive accreditation.
Known for its unique natural environment such as living coral reefs, subtropical forests, and mangrove forests, Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park displays an incredible starry sky at night. 84 of the 88 constellations and 21 first magnitude stars can all be seen here. Enjoy the nature during daytime, and be healed by the starry sky at night.
