Swipe to see the full picture → Celia holds her seven-day-old daughter, Priscilla – born by caesarean section - at a UNICEF-supported health centre in Paruro Province, #Peru. “Despite my illness – epilepsy – my midwife gave me confidence that everything would be okay,” says Celia. “Throughout my pregnancy, she helped me to stay calm and not to worry. She taught me about nutrition so that my baby would be healthy. I took supplements every day at 10 am. She helped me be punctual for my check-ups and reminded me of them. She taught me how to take care of my baby: how to talk to her, breastfeed her, sing to her and recognise the symptoms of diseases. When my baby was born, I felt so happy because she started crying.
