Ryan and I made a pact in 2012 when things were really tight financially. We promised, that to save gas, if we had to go somewhere that was within 3 miles of our home, we would bike it. That meant grocery shopping, taking Jackson to preschool, grabbing a coffee at Starbucks and even shopping at Target.

SIMPLIFY LIFE.
LIVE WITHIN OUR MEANS.
EMBRACE THE ADVENTURE.

That’s what we focused on. We would strap our @burley bike trailer to the back of Ryan’s bike and pile the kids in (there were 3 and 4 years old then). Once we had finished our shopping, the kids would help hold all the groceries in the bike trailer and I would strap some to the back of my bike rack. The kids often complained that it was hot (and it was!) or there wasn’t enough room (cuz there wasn’t… esp when we got toilet paper!), yet they were troopers.

I look back on those hard times and am so thankful that we made them fun, adventurous and creative. They are some of my favorite memories! I know for sure Ryan and I are stronger in our marriage because we struggled together. We laughed together. And we rode bikes around town together.

Whatever struggles you going through, I want you to find the good in it. It’s there… and embrace it fully.
